Arun Kumar completes double century

CHENNAI, AUG. 2. Opening batsman E. Arun Kumar (overnight 129 batting) completed his double century (234) as SBI resuming at overnight score of 240 for seven finished at 397 on the second day of the sixth round in the SPIC-TNCA first division league match here on Monday. At close, SICAL was 115 for four.

India Pistons finished at 324 resuming at 190 for three against Jolly Rovers. The highlight was a fine innings from Pankaj Dharmani who made 186. Offie Kulamani Parida scalped six wickets to put the breaks on India Pistons. At close, Rovers was 64 for two.

Rajat Bhatia scored an unbeaten century (122 not out) in Globe Trotters' (overnight 361 for four) 494 for five declared against Alwarpet. Bhatia and M. Gopal (36 not out) added 129 runs for the unbroken sixth wicket. Alwarpet with useful contributions from M. Vijay (78) and Subramaniya Siva (65) ended the day at 235 for six.

Pravanjan Mullick's undefeated 114 enabled Mambalam Mosquitos make a strong reply at 293 for three against Vijay, which was earlier bundled out for 299. Mullick and Badri Attavar (77) put on 209 runs for the third wicket.

M. Venkatramana (overnight 51) cracked a century (107) to bring SPIC's total to 296 against Parry's. Venkatramana and S. Vijay Sarathy (68) added 148 runs. At close, Parry's was 121 for four.

IOB, resuming at 288 for five was dismissed for 390 against Indian Bank. Noor-ul Riaz added 47 runs to his overnight score of 104 before getting out. IB was 128 for two at draw of stumps with P. Sathish remaining unbeaten on 79.

The scores: Globe Trotters 494 for five decl. (C. Hemant Kumar 133, Rajat Bhatia 112 not out) vs Alwarpet 235 for six (M. Vijay 78, Subramaniya Siva 65, Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan four for 66) at MRF-Pachaiyappa's.

IOB 390 (Noor-ul Riaz 151, M.P. Rajesh four for 82) vs Indian Bank 128 for two (P. Sathish 79 not out) at MAC.

SBI 397 (E. Arun Kumar 234, M.O. Arjun Sarathy four for 70) vs SICAL 115 for four (K. Srinivasan 41) at Viveka-SICAL.

Vijay 299 (C. Ganapathy four for 78) vs Mambalam Mosquitos 293 for three (S. Ramesh 42, Badri Attavar 77, Pravanjan Mullick 114 batting) at ICL-Guru Nanak.

SPIC 296 (S. Vijay Sarathy 68, M. Venkatramana 107, Jiju Janardanan three for 72, N. Raghavendran four for 69) vs Parry's 121 for four (T. Siddhartha three for 37) at SPIC-YMCA.
