Thrissur
By Our Staff Reporter
THRISSUR, AUG. 2. The motor workers' coordination committee has called for a dawn-to-dusk vehicle bandh in Thrissur district on Tuesday to protest against the police seizure of the vehicles which had brought the DYFI activists for agitation which had turned violent last week. Interestingly, the strike call has been given jointly by the leaders of the CITU, AITUC and BMS. They have appealed to the owners not to drive private vehicles on Tuesday. However, two-wheelers have been exempted from the strike. Similarly, there is no call to close down the shops and business establishments. According to the leaders of these unions, the vehicles which were seized by the police last week have not been released yet. They alleged that the police had never before resorted to such intimidatory tactics. Those vehicles were owned and operated by people belonging to different political affiliations. The vehicles had been hired a rental basis.
