Jana in dark on case report
Is the administration not able to keep pace with the political executive? It appeared so on Monday going by what the Home Minister, K. Jana Reddy, spoke after discussions with People's War emissaries.
Facing persistent questions from reporters at a briefing on the outcome of the discussions, the Minister said that he did not get report from the Warangal police regarding the case filed against P. Varavara Rao, Gadar and others for the alleged "provocative language" used by them at Mogilicherla meeting.
Asked as to how the head of the Ministry had failed to get information so far on such an issue as this rocking the Government-PW talks, Mr. Reddy said the report would be deemed received by him only when it reached his office. Asked to react on what the Government would do on the "covert" operation undertaken this time by the PW itself killing an alleged police informer in Khammam district, he took shelter under the same excuse.
Covert operations
Mr Reddy, however, added that the Government "is serious on both covert operations" -- the one attributed to the police and the second by naxalites.
