School health programme launched

ADILABAD, AUG. 2. The school health programme envisaging better health care for school

students was launched at the Government upper primary school at Kanpa Mediguda in Jainad mandal on Monday.

Inaugurating the programme, the district Collector, Vikas Raj, suggested involvement of school education committees in creating awareness on health and hygiene in students.

Giving details of the programme, the District Medical and Health Officer, M. Kesava Rao, said 3,800 science teachers across the district had been trained in primary screening of diseases in respect of defects in eyesight and hearing, besides skin ailments.

Personal health cards

Students would be given personal health cards, which would chart the disease history of the student concerned, he said. Students found with diseases would be referred to nearest primary health centre or any other referral hospital, he added.

The District Educational Officer, P.B. Narsinga Rao, the chief of the District Blindness Control Society, S. Narayan Reddy, and the District Immunisation Officer, D. Babu, attended.
