NIZAMABAD, AUG. 2. The in charge Collector, G. Venkatram Reddy, has made it clear that implementation of Minimum Wages Act for paying minimum wages to contract workers in the APTransco is the responsibility of Transco contractors and if they fail to do so stringent action will be taken against them as per law. Responding to a complaint from Bibipet in Domakonda mandal during the Dial Your Collector (DYC) programme here on Monday, he directed the Transco and the Labour officials to initiate steps for taking action against erring contractors. The complainant said that the contractors were paying only Rs. 1,200 per month to contract labourers instead of Rs. 3,400. One Sudarsan from Ilapur in Nandipet mandal said that electric wires connecting the 11 KV sub-station got snapped due to heavy rain four days ago. It was brought to the notice of the Assistant Engineer, APTransco, but to no avail.
Traffic woes
Another grievance received from Nandipet mandal urged the Collector to provide alternative way for movement of vehicular traffic as the Jannepally stream was overflowing. Yet another caller said that two tanks irrigating 200 acres in Navipet had a common outlet and as some farmers occupied the land water outflow was getting affected.
Employment sought
Lingam from Chinna Mallareddy in Kamareddy mandal said 70 acres of land belonging to the SCs remained useless with monsoon playing truant. He requested the Collector to provide employment to 50 SC families, who were dependent on the said land. K. Bhusan from Renjal, said though funds were plenty under the JRY and the XI Finance Commission, development works had not been undertaken.
Land registration
The SC families from Vootlapally in Bodhan mandal said the NSF land was allotted to them and sought land registration. A farmer, Surya from Thumpally in Sirikonda mandal, sought assistance to the ST farmers for cultivating three-acre land allotted to them. Narasaiah of Gopalpet in Nagireddypet mandal requested for sanction of borewell for raising paddy.
The in charge Collector said 17 grievances were received and steps would be taken to sort them out within a week.
At another meeting with district officials to review developmental works, Mr. Reddy said the construction of about 860 District Primary Education Programme (DPEP) school buildings was at different levels and asked the supervisors and mandal authorities to oversee the construction.
He stressed the need to plant fruit bearing and shade giving trees across the district.
The authorities were asked to collect details regarding damaged crop and residential dwellings in the wake of heavy rain in the district.
He also directed them to undertake fogging operations to tackle the mosquito menace in the town. The Velugu Project Director, Satyanarayana said another, 70,000 lavatories were sanctioned to the district.
