MANGALORE, AUG. 2. A labourer cutting grass in a plantation at Talapady, near here, died when he came in contact with a live wire that had snapped, on Sunday. The police identified the victim as Monnappa Kille (60). The Ullal police have registered a case and are investigating.
Dies of injuries
Koragappa Malekudiya, a labourer, who fell from a tree at Khaje village in Belthangady police station limits on June 3, died at the district Wenlock Government hospital here on Sunday. The police said that Koragappa, who was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition, did not respond to treatment and succumbed to his injuries.
Man assaulted
A group of five persons allegedly assaulted a person on suspicion that he was getting married again. The police said the accused illegally detained the complainant, R. Mohammed Farooq, a resident of Goodinaballi in Bantwal town police station limits and beat him up. Farooq, who sustained grievous injuries, is undergoing treatment at the Wenlock Government Hospital.
Recovered
The Barke (Gandhinagar) police recovered the body of a man aged around 45 from a rivulet at Kudroli. The police suspect that the person could have been accidentally drowned in the rivulet two days ago.
