Award for AWARE chief

HYDERABAD, AUG. 2. The President, A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, presented the "Naitik Samman Award" given by the Gulzarilal Nanda Foundation to P.K.S.Madhavan, chairman of AWARE, one of the major NGOs operating in tribal areas in the State, last week.

The NGO, which began its activities in 1975 with just three villages in the State, has spread its activities to Orissa, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, serving about 7,000 villages, a press release said.
