BANGALORE, AUG. 2. The Regional Passport Office here has started action against touts who loiter in the office and offer to "help" those in urgent need of passports. On Monday, a few such persons were handed over to the police, the officials said. B.R.K. Prasad, Acting Passport Officer, said strict action to curb activities by touts was on, and requested the public not to approach such persons. They could contact the officers concerned, and if they had any complaints against any police officials inside the office premises, they could contact Mr. Prasad.
Passports sent
The passport office said that passports in respect of applications up to serial nos. A016997/04 dated June 21, B 006567/04 dated June 16, C005696/04 dated July 6, G002212/04 dated June 18, M006826/04 dated June 15 and N002050/04 dated June 2, received in the office have been despatched during the week ending July 30, in all cases where the documents were in order.
