By Our Staff Reporter
DHARMAPURI, AUG 3. The Dharmapuri Lorry Owners Association have resorted to a strike in protest against the variation of monetary benefits entitled for loading and unloading of commodities to various godowns in the district. According to the president S. Anbu "around 200 lorries from Dharmapuri used to unload goods from the Government Warehousing Corporation to the various godowns in the district through a contractor." But as the monetary benefits were reduced and commission increased the lorry owners resorted to a strike following which lorries belonging to Karnataka were roped in to unload goods. Following complaints from a section of lorry owners against this, the RTO, Dharmapuri seized six such lorries that were overloaded and plying without proper permit. The lorry owners have threatened to go on an indefinite strike if their demands are not met.
