PONDICHERRY, AUG. 3. The Health Minister, E. Valsaraj, today said the Pondicherry Government-owned Mahatma Gandhi Dental College and Hospital here would be upgraded to a postgraduate institute. Speaking to presspersons, he said the college had been set up on a sprawling site with an investment of over Rs. 26 crores. It now caters for some 700 patients from Pondicherry and neighbouring districts of Tamil Nadu every day. Earlier, Mr. Valsaraj distributed toothpaste and brushes to patients as part of the Oral Hygiene Week celebrations.
New courses
Shyam Singh, the Principal, who took the Minister round the hospital, said the college would soon offer postgraduate courses in oral medicine and paediatric dentistry.
