COIMBATORE: The Powerloom Development and Export Promotion Council (PDEXCIL) has sought simplified procedures to avail of assistance under the market access initiative (MAI). According to the PDEXCIL Chairman, M. Senthil Kumar, this is one of the suggestions submitted by the council for modifications in the Exim Policy. He said simplified procedures would help more exporters get assistance under the scheme. Further, the council should be added in the list of agencies authorised to issue Certificate of Origin. The duty entitlement pass book (DEPB) scheme should be continued with "necessary changes". In order to boost the performance of the small-scale sector, a new paragraph should be added in the policy providing details of benefits that would be available for the sector, he added.
