Masseur affair: manager too contributed
MUMBAI,
AUG. 3.
The Manager of the Indian team in Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup, M. N. Dorai Rajan himself contributed Rs. 1000 (Sri Lankan) to take care of the expenses of Pakistani masseur Sohail Abbas.
"I paid the first instalment, but not an equivalent amount as the second instalment after I was asked by the BCCI that Sohail should not be part of the Indian team,'' said Mr. Dorai Rajan.
He said that all the members of the Indian team contributed Rs. 2000 for Sohail's expenses in two instalments, the first one two days after reaching Colombo. "I received a call from the Board Secretary Mr. S. K. Nair after the match against Sri Lanka on July 27 that Sohail should not be part of the team. Immediately I asked Sohail not to travel in the team bus and enter the dressing room. I have also asked Mr. Nair to conduct an enquiry.''
