Medical College, Breast Feeding Promotion Network of India, and Indian Association of Paediatricians are jointly observing the week. They have taken up several activities for the promotion of breastfeeding in urban and rural communities.

Formally inaugurating the "Breastfeeding Week", the Medical Director and Chief Executive of the hospital, M.V. Jali, the President of Breastfeeding Promotion Network of India, N.S. Mahantshetti, and the college Principal, V.D. Patil, lamented the decline of breastfeeding.
