Volkswagen keen on Vizag: Botsa

By Our Staff Reporter

VISAKHAPATNAM, AUG. 3. The Minister for Heavy Industries, Botsa Satyanarayana, has expressed confidence that Volkswagen will set up a manufacturing unit here. Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, the Minister said Volkswagen was among the major companies keen to come to Visakhapatnam.

He said a formal announcement was expected after the details are finalised.

Mr. Satyanarayana said ancillary units had not grown as expected despite the location of a major steel plant in the city. He said he would take up the issue of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant sourcing its components from other States with the company management.

`Pharma City safe'

The Pharma City would not cause pollution as "all possible pollution control measures" had been taken, he said.
