HYDERABAD, AUG. 3. The State Government is all set to establish a Youth Employment Summit Academy here in collaboration with the Education Development Centre (EDC), Boston, for implementation of youth projects in tie-up with national and international agencies. The Minister for Sports and Youth Services, T. Harish Rao, in his note on the budget demands of the Sports and Youth Services Department, has said that steps are being taken to open the summit office at a place provided at Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute (MCHRDI) here. The projects are designed in consultation with sforeign agencies. Highlighting the activities of the department for 2004-2005, the Minister noted that formation of new groups under the Chief Minister's Empowerment of Youth (CMEY) will get priority and training modules will be imported to make youth groups self-reliant.
Youth clubs
The units for the newly-trained groups will be grounded soon and motivation programme for formation of new registered youth clubs for active participation in community development activities initiated in due course. The Government has decided to pay attention to bringing down unemployment rate by providing the necessary training to youth. Providing opportunities for wage employment and employment generation and encouraging establishment of self-employment micro units is high on the agenda of the Government. The Government is exploring employment opportunities for youth in police, Army, Navy, railways and education departments. Pre-army recruitment training will be provided to youth.
Financial aid
The Government intended to extend financial aid of Rs. 13.52 crores to youth associations and other youth welfare programmes. A sum of Rs. 15 lakhs is earmarked for maintenance of youth hostels in Secunderabad, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Nagarjunasagar and Warangal. Similarly, Rs. 50 crores has been allocated for the Velugu project.
Stadia planned
With regard to the activities of the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP), plans are afoot to construct stadiums and development infrastructure in the district at a cost of Rs. 6.50 crores. A sum of Rs. 1.08 crores has been allocated to improve sports and games facilities in the tribal areas. Development of play fields at the village level, tribal areas and social welfare residential schools, junior colleges, construction of mini stadia at mandal headquarters in a phased manner, sports complex at district headquarters and creation of international standard infrastructure at State headquarters for conduct of national and international tournaments is the aim of the Government.
