``I'll never go back in"

TEHRI GARHWAL, AUG. 3. "I will never go back in," said a visibly shaken Jagtar, who hails from Patiala.

He was on duty at the accident spot but was one of the luckier ones. He escaped after he came out for "a breath of fresh air." Now "I will go back home," he said.

Residents of the nearby Bhagirathipuram and New Tehri were a worried lot.

They believe the project to be jinxed as "it has already devoured so many lives."

Many of them gathered near the site to get a closer look but were prevented from doing so by personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force.
