CHENNAI, AUG. 3. The proposal to demolish the existing toilet near the Kapaleeswarar temple at Mylapore and construct a new one was taken in accordance with Agama principles, according to V.A.Parthasarathy, devotee and a resident of Mylapore for the last five decades. Reacting to the report, `Mylapore residents raise a stink', published in The Hindu on August 3, he said not all residents of Mylapore were opposed to the construction of the toilets on the southern side of the tank. A section of the traders had opposed the move, he added. "Construction work is on under instructions from the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Department authorities," he added.
