College staff holds dharna
By Our Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI,
AUG. 3.
The staff association of Delhi University's Motilal Nehru College staged a dharna outside the Vice-Chancellor's office today protesting "arbitrary and indiscriminatory denial of re-employment'' to V.K. Agrawal of the college's Physics Department.
While urging the Vice-Chancellor to take up his case for review, the staff association said ignoring Dr. Aggarwal's case despite strong recommendations from the principal and governing body was a clear case of discrimination and victimisation. The staff association had observed a day-long strike on Monday to protest the denial of re-employment.
In a statement issued today, the staff association praised Dr.Aggarwal for being "an excellent and hardworking teacher and research scholar for nearly four decades".
