Change in BSNL billing schedule

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, AUG. 3. Due to some technical problems, there has been a change in the billing schedule of the BSNL subscribers under Vellaikkadavu, Kudappanakkunnu and Vattiyoorkavu exchanges. Their telephone bills for the month of July will be despatched on August 7 after which they will continue to receive their bi-monthly bills as usual, says a BSNL release.

Protest against land acquisition

The Shanghumugham unit of the Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association has protested against the move to acquire 1.2 hectares for the construction of a modern terminal for the international airport on the Chakka side. A meeting of the association held under the chairmanship of the State president, V.C. Das, here today also decided to take legal steps to prevent acquisition of land. According to the association, the land was being acquired without following the rules.

Interviews postponed

All interviews for admission to Post-Graduate, degree courses at the Mar Ivanios College, scheduled for August 3, will now be held at 10 a.m. on August 6 at the College auditorium, a press note issued here today said.

Sena criticises Government

The Shiv Sena has accused the Government of turning Kovalam, a tourists' paradise, into a `combat zone'. In a statement here, the Shiv Sena Rajyapramukh, M.S. Bhuvanachandran, said it was unacceptable that the Government protect those who had illegally taken over the Halcyon castle. He also said that the BJP had no moral right to demand the castle's protection as it was during the BJP Government's time that the property was sold off for a pittance to private entrepreneurs.

Ramakrishnan's health improves

The condition of the former Minister and CPI(M) central committee member, T.K. Ramakrishnan, who has been admitted the Medical College hospital has improved. Mr. Ramakrishnan, who had just returned after the party's central committee meeting on Monday, was admitted to the intensive care unit at the MCH on the same day after he complained of fever and uneasiness. The head of Cardiology, C.G. Bahuleyan, and the head of Medicine, V. Jayakumar, also examined him.

Yoga classes

The Yoga-Dhyana Satsanga Samithi begins its Yoga and meditation classes on August 8 at Vazhuthacaud Ramadevi Mandiram. The classes will be held from 6 a.m. till 7 a.m. Special yoga postures would be taught for those suffering from asthma, bronchitis, back pain and depressive disorders. Contests

The Thiruvananthapuram Temple City Jaycees is organising a painting contest and elocution contest for High school students.
