HYDERABAD, AUG. 3. The Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, today reviewed the constitution of the dozen committees formed by his Government on corruption and several other irregularities committed during the Telugu Desam Party regime.
Terms of reference
At a meeting with senior officials, he urged the Assembly officials to prepare the terms of references for the House committees constituted during the budget session. Noting that each committee would have nine members, he said the panels on I-Max theatre and Nizam Sugars would submit their reports within three months while the one on Neeru-Meeru would have six months.
The Chief Minister said the judicial inquiry into farmers' suicides would be headed by a retired district sessions judge, the one into the Food-for-Work programme by a sitting High Court Judge in consultation with the Chief Justice, the inquiry into housing by a senior officer of the cadre of Special Chief Secretary, the one into APCOB scam by a senior officer.
Dr. Reddy noted that the committee constituted with the Finance Minister as chairman to review the Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) was already functioning while the judicial inquiries into the Yeleru scam and allotment of lands were also in progress.
