Hostage crisis: 'talks at a sensitive stage'

NEW DELHI, AUG. 3. The Government tonight said negotiations to secure the safe release of the three Indians, held hostage in Iraq, have reached a sensitive stage and a successful outcome was likely.

The Minister of State for External Affairs, E. Ahamed, said the talks with the kidnappers were continuing and a successful and satisfactory outcome was likely. ``We hope the hostage takers will heed the earnest and sincere appeal from many quarters and allow the hostages to be reunited as soon as possible with their families,'' Mr. Ahamed said after a meeting of the Crisis Management Group headed by him.
