ARP wins a thriller

COIMBATORE, AUG 4. Armed Reserve Police (ARP) edged out PSG College of Technology 63-59 in the 50th YMCA basketball tournament for men for the S. Venkatakrishnan Trophy at the YMCA courts here on Tuesday.

It was a neck-and-neck affair between the teams all the way. If Manikandan (17) and Sivabalan (14) excelled in the first quarter for the policemen so did Tech men Bala Sabari (18) and Naresh (15) in the second and third quarters. However, the policemen had that extra bit of energy in the fourth quarter that carried them through to the next round.
