Low-lying areas inundated
Our Staff Reporter writes from Alappuzha: Heavy rain lashed the district today submerging the low-lying areas. Several houses were damaged in Ambalappuzha and Kuttanad taluks. Crops have also been destroyed in the heavy rain. Panic spread in the district as several fishing boats, which were to return by this noon after fishing, did not return on time. The District Collector said all but one boat returned by evening. Five persons were still missing, he said. A search was on to trace them.
