NEW DELHI, AUG. 5. Launching its "breakthrough" WEGA Engine technology for colour televisions, consumer electronics major, Sony, today announced that it was targeting to double sales of all its products by 2006 by offering competitive pricing and upgrading its after-sales service. Introducing an entire new portfolio of plasma, projection and LCD television sets, priced between Rs. 1.29 lakhs and Rs. 3.99 lakhs, Negishi Noriaki, Senior General Manager of Sony's PAN Asia Business Division, said, "WEGA Engine is an intelligent picture enhancement system that maximises picture performance by reducing noise and enhancing details in televisions. All our TV sets in India will have WEGA Engine technology." Stating that Sony India was targeting a turnover of Rs. 1,200 crores this fiscal and also penetrate in other segments apart from colour televisions, Mohit Parasher, General Manager-AV/IT Division, Sony India Pvt. Ltd., said the company was adopting an aggressive growth strategy to push sales.
