Army denies ceasefire violation on LoC

NEW DELHI, AUG. 6. The Army today denied that there had been any violation of the ceasefire in the Handwara sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

The ceasefire on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir was holding, an Army spokesman said.

There were minor aberrations but overall there had been no deliberate attempt from either side to breach the ceasefire which came into effect in November last, the spokesman said.

He said the Handwara sector was deep inside the Indian territory and there was no question of violation of ceasefire there.
