Reservoir levels go up

HASSAN, AUG. 6. Heavy rain over the past five days has increased reservoir levels, and filled up dried tanks in many districts in the State.

The storage in the Hemavathi reservoir was 26 tmc ft as against the maximum of 37.50 tmc ft, on Friday, according to officials in the Hemavathi Dam Division.

The water level was 2,909.10 ft and the inflow into the reservoir was 29,000 cusecs and the outflow 4,400 cusecs.

The rainfall received in various parts of the district on Thursday is as follows: Marnahalli 50.2 mm, Hosur 34 mm, Hanbal 62 mm, Belagodu 28.1 mm, Yasalur 46 mm, Sakleshpur 31.6 mm, Ballupet 28 mm, Kenchammana Hoskote 44.5 mm, Kundur 34.6 mm, Palya 23.4 mm, Gendehalli 34.1 mm, Arehalli 50 mm, and Bikkodu 16.4 mm.

Tungabhadra dam

Our Bellary Staff Correspondent reports: In the wake of copious rainfall in the catchment area and the reservoirs upstream of the Tungabhadra overflowing, the Tungabhadra dam received 9 tmc ft of water during the past 24 hours.

As per the readings taken on Friday, the water level rose to 1,621.36 ft after the reservoir received an inflow of 92,448 cusecs.

The outflow was 5,211 cusecs.

The full reservoir level is 1,633 ft and the reservoir can hold about 130 tmc ft of water. Presently 71 tmc ft of water is stored in the reservoir.
