Tiruvallur triumphs in style

CHENNAI, AUG. 6. Tiruvallur completed a thumping 175-run win over Coimbatore on the third and final day of the P.R. Thevar inter-district under-17 Trophy final at the DRBCC Hindu College `A' ground, here, on Friday.

Chasing 257 for a win, Coimbatore was dismissed for 81 in its second innings. For Tiruvallur, paceman K. Sriram took three for 24, taking his match tally to eight. He grabbed 29 wickets in the tournament.

C.R. Vijayaraghavan, secretary, Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, gave away the prizes.

The scores (final): Tiruvallur 148 & 184 bt Coimbatore 76 & 81 in 40 overs (K. Sriram three for 24).
