India loses a controversial match
NEW DELHI,
AUG. 6.
Reduced to just one man in the fourth chukker during its crucial match against USA, India eventually went down 8-12 in the World cycle polo championship in Vancouver on Thursday.
According to a news release of the Cycle Polo Association of India here on Friday, the teams were tied 8-8 at the end of the third chukker.
However, within two minutes into the final session, French umpire Alain gave marching orders to P. K. Tiwari, Sohan and Srikant Sakarkar much to the dismay of the Indian camp as well as the spectators.
The protest of Indian manager K. K. Raina was not entertained.
With Milind Patle alone to guard the Indian goal in the remainder of the match, the Americans easily scored four goals. India will now face France.
