District plan
Mr. Narendra, who represents Medak constituency in the Lok Sabha, told reporters that the grants would be spent in three years at the rate of Rs.15 crores each. The Minister said he had already spoken to the Medak Collector to prepare a district plan and send it to the Planning Commission for approval. The grants are to be utilised by the local bodies only for undertaking rural development works. Mr. Narendra recalled that he had written to the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, Alhuwalia, on July 19 seeking inclusion of the district/constituency in the Rashtriya Samvikas Yojana scheme, and funds for his constituency. Mr. Alhuwalia had reacted to the letter by including Medak in the scheme. He had thanked the Deputy Chairman for the gesture.
