MADIKERI, AUG. 7. The fury of the monsoon has abated in Kodagu since Friday night and most parts of the district experienced light to moderate rainfall on Saturday. Strong winds, which accounted for much of the destruction, also petered out, much to the relief of the people. Power supply was restored in most parts of the district. Bhagamandala received 86.2 mm rainfall in the past 24 hours followed by Madikeri taluk which received 59.4 mm. In Virajpet taluk, the rainfall was put at 24.8 mm while it was 24.6 mm in Somwarpet. Madikeri has received 2,570.5 mm rainfall from January to August 6 as against 1,574.1 mm recorded during the same period last year.
Harangi
The inflow into the Harangi Reservoir reduced on Saturday. It was put at 10,527 cusecs. The storage stood at 2,857.69 ft as against the full reservoir level of 2,859 ft. As much as 1,000 cusecs of water is being released into the canals and 1,060 cusecs into the river.
