NEW DELHI, AUG. 7. The public sector Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has bagged its biggest-ever export contract from Airbus Industrie of France. The Rs. 380 crore contract bagged in a global competition envisages supply of 1,000 ship sets of forward passenger doors for the family of Airbus Aircraft A-319, A-320 and A-321. The contract was signed by senior HAL officer, A. K. Saxena, and Airbus Vice-President, Allain Flourens, at Toulouse last month, stated a Ministry of Defence news release here today. HAL has been exporting work packages for civil aircraft to Airbus France and Boeing U.S. for the last few years. HAL Bangalore's performance in the supply of work packages has been credited with `no rejection' and no delay at competitive prices. HAL plans to increase its production volume to meet the required delivery schedules. The signing of the contract has been described as a major breakthrough as it has given further impetus to HAL to get a good share in the global market. Airbus has expressed the hope that the contract will open new avenues of cooperation and lead to a long-term partners.
