Cloudy sky forecast

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, AUG. 7.AUG. 7.AUG. 7 Delhi is likely to witness another wet day on Sunday as the weatherman has forecast as generally cloudy sky with possibility of rain or thundershowers in some areas.

On Saturday, Safdarjung recorded a maximum temperature of 36.6 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 28 degrees Celsius. Palam recorded a maximum of 36.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 28 degrees. While 1 mm of rain was recorded at Sadarjung, as much as 16.7 mm of precipitation was recorded at Palam.

The maximum and minimum humidity recorded at Safdarjung was 83 and 56 per cent. At Palam, the maximum and minimum humidity was recorded at 92 and 53 per cent respectively.

Acid attack, culprit held

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, AUG. 7.AUG. 7.AUG. 7 An 18-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly throwing acid on a 32-year-old man at Lahori Gate in North Delhi on Friday.

According to the police, Chaman, a resident of Sonepat in Haryana, and his accomplice intercepted Deepak, a resident of Kucha Chalan in Lahori Gate, when he was going home after the day's work and threw acid on him last night. While Chaman was arrested on the spot, his accomplice managed to escape. He has been identified as Rajesh (24). Deepak was admitted with burn injuries at JPN Hospital.

Six arrested

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, AUG. 7.AUG. 7.AUG. 7 Six persons have been arrested by the North-East Delhi police for allegedly planning to commit a dacoity.

Following a tip-off, a trap was laid behind DTC terminal in Shadara on August 6 around 7 p.m. Six persons, identified as Samim, Naushad, Sabbu, Aamir, Badre Alam and Jainul Aabedin, were arrested from the spot and country-made revolvers and knives were recovered from them.

Two drown

NEW DELHI. AUG. 7. A 22-year-old man, who was trying to save a 14-year-old boy from drowning in the Yamuna, himself got drowned. The boy also could not be saved. The tragic incident was reported from Timarpur in North Delhi today.

According to the police, Devender, son of Krishan Lal, a resident of pushta No. 1 in Sonia Vihar, Timarpur, had gone to take a bath in the river along with his younger brother, Kalu, around 3 p.m. While Kalu was on the shore, Devender went a little further and began drowning.

Kalu then raised an alarm which alerted Saleem, a resident of Usmanpur, who was present nearby. He jumped into the water in a bid to save the drowning boy. But, he himself lost control and was drowned.
