KARIMNAGAR, AUG 7. The ambitious massive tree plantation programme called `Haritha haram' would be launched by the Union Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, with a ceremonial plantation in Karimnagar town on Monday. According to the programme, about one lakh plants would planted on a single-day in all 32 wards of Karimnagar municipality.
Rs. 20 lakhs allocated
The Union Minister had allocated Rs. 20 lakhs from his MPLADS for the programme, the Karimnagar municipality Rs. 21 lakhs, the district administration Rs. 9 lakhs and philanthropists Rs. 18 lakhs for the protection of trees by providing them with tree guards and making arrangements for supplying water to the trees. A total of 17,000 road-side avenue plantations would be taken up in the town covering a distance of 85 km, 18,000 block plantations would be done in the institutions and 65,000 fruit-bearing plants would be planted in various households. Each house would be provided with three fruit bearing plants on Haritha haram day on Monday. The Collector, C. Parthasarathi, has called upon people to actively participate in the programme by planting the saplings as well as protection of plants by guarding and watering them.
Programmes
Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao would tour the district from August 8 to 11 and participate in various programmes. According to an official release here today, on August 8 the Union Minister would participate in laying the foundation stone for the construction of junior college in Mustabad and extension of Zilla Parisahd high school building in Pothugal village. He would also review developmental works of Nerella Assembly constituency. On August 10, he would proceed to Korutla and review developmental works of Buggaram Assembly constituency. On August 11, he would lay foundation stone for the extension of junior college building in Metpally and also organise a review meeting for the development of Metpally Assembly segment.
