Doctors & the court

Sir, — The Supreme Court's verdict that doctors are not criminally liable for the death of a patient highlights the cardinal factor that they do not have any criminal intention or motive to cause the death of a patient. The judgment is based on the fact that there is no mens rea on the part of doctors while treating patients.

A.Yeshuratnam,
Thiruvananthapuram

Sir, — The judgment will put at an end to the uncertainty among doctors and they will be able to perform better.
