BANGALORE, AUG. 8. Healthcare business process outsourcing (BPO) units, which are known as medical transcription companies, have formed the Indian Medical Transcription Industry Association (IMTIA) here. The association's aim is to set standards for the industry. Medical transcription agencies now provide greater flexibility and employees have the option of working from home. The association will ensure that the member companies follow the best principles of human resources management and provide training that meets current and future requirements. The association, with its domain knowledge, would help the member firms move up the value chain to provide services such as electronic medical records, medical coding and billing, document imaging, data warehousing and high-end services such as radiology, he added.
