MALAPPURAM, AUG. 8. The Industries Minister, P. K. Kunhalikutty, today inaugurated a workshop on medicinal plants cultivation and marketing at the VPSV Ayurveda Auditorium at Kottakkal in the district.
Research in Ayurveda
Inaugurating the workshop, Mr. Kunhalikutty said that the priority should be accorded to research in Ayurveda especially at a time when this system was gaining popularity abroad. He said that the Industries Department would help the Ayurveda drug manufacturing sector. He also inaugurated the medicinal plants marketing scheme on the occasion. P. K. Warrier, managing trustee of the Kottakkal Arya Vaidasala presided over the workshop. Dr.Warrier also released a book `A farm guide on medicinal plants' by handing over a copy to N. Gopinath, managing director, `Oushadhi'. Later experts took classes on the importance of medicinal plants cultivation, cultivation methods, loans available and marketing possibilities. The workshop, which was organised by `Sanjeevani' an organisation of herbal plant cultivators of Kerala, was attended by more than 500 delegates from across the State.
