BIDAR, AUG. 8 . The District Blindness Control Society in Bidar has conducted 31,942 eye surgeries as against the target of 46,000 in the past 11 years, the Deputy Commissioner and chairman of the society, T.K. Anil Kumar said. Addressing a meeting of the society on Friday, Mr. Kumar asked officials to better their record. He directed them to take up an intensive awareness campaign to ensure that more people attend the blindness treatment camps. The society has been performing cataract operations on the aged and conducting eye check up camps for children since its inception in 1993-94. The District Health and Family Welfare Officer,k Shivashankar Naregal, S.S. Siddareddy, and Shivasharanappa Wali were present.
