BELLARY, AUG. 8. G. Karunakar Reddy, Bellary MP, set in motion the work of improving the roads in the city on Sunday. Mr. Reddy performed the bhoomi pooja at Gandhi Nagar and also at the Fort to enable the Karnataka Land Army to take up the works of improving the municipal roads in the city. The main road at Devi Nagar and the second crossroad at Gandhi Nagar were taken up for improvement at an estimated cost of Rs. 14.53 lakhs and Rs. 19.50 lakhs respectively. The work was being implemented under Food for Work scheme with municipal funds. G. Somashekar Reddy, municipal president; Surekha Gowda, councillor; Venkat Mahipal, and Mrutyunjaya Jinaga, leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party; and officials of the Land Army were present.
