BELLARY, AUG. 8. The Bellary district police, on Saturday, accorded a farewell to the Superintendent of Police, Hemant Nimbalkar, who has been transferred to Belgaum. The police officers commended Mr. Nimbalkar's act of rescuing the managing director of a mining firm from the naxalites, stopping matka and gambling, and responding to the problems faced by the people, during his 16-month term here. Mr. Nimbalkar attributed the success of good administration to the support and cooperation from his subordinate staff, especially the police constabulary. The Additional SP, Gaikwad, presided, and N.R. Mahant Reddy, Circle Inspector, Sirguppa, proposed a vote of thanks.Later, the police officials towed Mr. Nimbalkar's jeep, up to the gates of the district police office. The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP), Kudligi, Chandrappa; the Sub Inspector, Satyanarayan; the DySP DCRB, Siddaramappa; the Gazetted Assistant, Loka Nayak; the retired DySp, Somashekar Sirsi; and the assistant Director of Kannada and Culture, Chornur Kotrappa, were present.
