NEW DELHI AUG. 8. "Every calorie you avoid is worth about 30 seconds of extra life," said the Deputy Dean of the Board of Medical Education, Moolchand Hospital, K.K. Aggarwal at a discussion organised here today by the Heart Care Foundation of India.

Dr. Aggarwal said giving up a piece of pizza may result in an extra three hours of life. "It is known for a long time that ants, mice and worms that eat very little live longer than those who eat a normal diet. The total calorie intake should range between 1000 to 2000 calories and the correct diet should contain a mix of fruits, vegetables, legumes and whole grains, Dr. Aggarwal added.
