BANGALORE, AUG. 8. The autopsy conducted on the bodies of two children and their mother who were found dead under mysterious circumstances in their house behind MES College in Malleswaram on Saturday has failed to establish the cause of their death. Janaki (38), a housewife, and her two children, Keerthana (10) and Pavanchandra Tejus (6), were found dead when Janaki's husband, Rajanna (42), a real estate agent, was away. The Assistant Commissioner of Police, Yeshwanthpur Police Division, M.B. Appanna, said the autopsy report had found no external or internal injuries. The doctors who conducted autopsy suspected that the three could have died of poisoning. The viscera of the three have been sent to Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for further examination.
Suicide suspected
Mr. Appanna said the police did not suspect a foul play and materials found near the bodies such as a pestle and a jug of water strengthened the theory that Janaki could have poisoned the children by administering some powder to them and then consumed the poison herself. As her veil was found around her neck, the police suspect that she might have attempted to strangle herself as the poison might have taken some time to have an impact on her body.
Depression
Meanwhile, sources said she did not enjoy a good relationship with her husband in the last few days. This and the statement of a fortune-teller that she would have a premature death had reportedly resulted in a suicidal tendency on her part. One of her sisters, who lived in Hyderabad, had called on Janaki to counsel her against committing suicide. Janaki's sister reportedly told the police that she had rushed to Bangalore though only 15 days had passed after she (the sister) underwent a caesarean delivery, after getting a call from Janaki.
