Sir, — Postgraduates who join the Education Department have to retire as non-teaching staff members in the State, whereas in Andhra Pradesh, they are promoted as junior lecturers when vacancies arise.

This should be done in Karnataka also, as these employees will be able to show their talent outside routine work.

Bus stop

Sir, — The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) buses (route nos. 64 and 401 B, E and K) plying on West of Chord Road do not stop at ISKCON temple stop.

Instead, they stop at the WCR Anjaneya Temple Road. The next stop is at the Government Soap Factory. This causes a lot of hardship for those visiting the ISKCON temple. I request the BMTC authorities to look into the matter.

Widen road

Sir, — The road connecting Airport Road to Old Madras Road, through Kodihalli, is choked by heavy traffic. Since it is a 60-foot road with deep curves, the lives of motorists are in danger. I request the authorities concerned to take steps to widen the road.

Bill errors

Sir, — The computerised electricity bills have many errors. The mobile vans provided to some areas for making payment serve no purpose, as one is forced to go to the office to get the errors rectified.

It is, therefore, felt that the old system of issuing bills on the spot after taking the meter reading will be better.
