NEW DELHI, AUG. 8. Three persons allegedly running a cricket betting racket from Ashok Vihar in North-West Delhi were arrested by the Crime Branch this Friday. The Crime Branch received a tip-off that betting on South Africa-Sri Lanka cricket match was being run from an Ashok Vihar flat. Subsequently, a team mounted a raid there and arrested three persons. They were identified as Vijay Kumar, Surender and Jagpreet Singh. The police said the accused had accepted betting amount to the tune of Rs. 5 lakhs. During interrogation, they disclosed that Vijay and Surender used to organise the betting and they would receive the betting calls on their mobile phones. A colour television, seven mobile phones, a calculator, two notebooks, a tape recorder and other articles were recovered from the flat. Further investigations into the matter are on.
