CPI(M) opposes move to abolish vacant posts

By Our Staff Correspondent

BIDAR, AUG. 10. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has opposed the Government move to abolish 80 per cent of vacant government posts saying that it was "anti-people" and "anti-youth".

This was the last step expected of a Government that claimed to create employment opportunities for the youth, the CPI(M) State unit secretary, Gurushant, told presspersons here on Monday.

There were millions of young men waiting to get government jobs and they would be disappointed (by the move), he said. He demanded that the Government immediately withdraw the announcement.

Criticised

He also faulted the N. Dharam Singh Government for treading the "anti-people, anti-poor path" by adopting "anti-people, anti-poor policies dictated by international funding agencies".

Mr. Dharam Singh should remember that the people had summarily rejected the S.M. Krishna Government for this reason, he said.

The party leader, Maruthi Manpade, spoke.
