Garcia stuns Davydenko

SOPOT (POLAND), AUG. 10. Chile's Adrian Garcia came from behind to defeat No. 2 seed Nikolay Davydenko of Russia 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-4 on Monday on a day of upsets that saw four seeded players ousted from the men's draw in the first round of the IDEA Prokom Open here.

Davydenko appeared headed for an easy win after he took the first set. But Garcia fought back to win a second-set tie-breaker and took the decisive third set.

Granville wins

Fourth-seeded Laura Granville ended a six-match losing streak with a win over fellow American Samantha Reeves at the start of the Odlum Brown Vancouver Open, a new WTA Tour event this year.

Granville won 7-5, 6-1 over Reeves in the $110,000 hard-court tournament.
