CHENNAI, AUG. 10. V. He is survived by his wife and two daughters. A centre half, Rajasekaran represented the Tamil Nadu hockey team from 1970 to 1973. Thereafter he played for Indian Railways for eight years and went on to represent the country in a Test series against France in 1977 and the Netherlands in 1978. A Deputy Chief Operations Manager with Southern Railway, Rajasekaran was a part of an illustrious hockey family. All his brothers Prabhakaran, Baskaran, Jayasekaran and Vasikaran are hockey players of repute. A press release from Indian Hockey Federation said: "We are deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden demise of V. Rajasekaran. He did yeoman service for the cause of Tamil Nadu hockey as Assistant Secretary of Tamil Nadu Hockey Association for many years. As a secretary of CDHA, his contribution has been praiseworthy. On behalf of the President and members of the IHF and TNHA, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families." The President and members of the Tamil Nadu State Women's Hockey Association condoled the demise of Rajasekaran. "We have lost an able and disciplined administrator, who had worked silently in the field of hockey," the release said.
