Court admits plea against panel revival
By Our Legal Correspondent
HYDERABAD,
AUG.10.
V.V.S. Rao, a Judge of the High Court, on Tuesday admitted the writ petition filed challenging the restoration of Justice B.K. Somasekhara Commission to probe into the alleged irregularities while determining and distributing compensation to those who lost lands for canals of the Yeleru project in Visakhapatnam district.
The writ petition was filed by Peela Poti Naidu, an advocate who was accused of playing the main role in the issue. The petitioner traced out the history of the initiation of proceedings by the District Judge culminating with appointment of the commission of enquiry by the then sitting Judge of the High Court, B. K. Somasekhara.
He reminded the court that pursuant to judgment of the High Court Bench, the State Government had discontinued the Commission and issued proceedings in August 2001.
