VIJAYAWADA, AUG. 10. Taking exception to the claims on the formation of a separate Telangana State by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, the State committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has advised the latter to maintain restraint while speaking about issues pertaining to the formation of a separate State. "The clarification given by Congress leaders right up to the party's Andhra Pradesh affairs in-charge, Digvijay Singh, from time to time about their stand on the constitution of the second States Reorganisation Commission to study the matter appears to have not gone down well with the TRS president. Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao, who boasts about his closeness with Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, is only insulting the State Congress leaders," the CPI(M) State secretary, B.V. Raghavulu, has said.
Second SRC
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Raghavulu, who was here in connection with a party training class, wanted Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao to ensure that Ms. Sonia Gandhi issued a statement on Telangana on his behalf, if the latter's claims on his closeness with the Congress president were true. "To our knowledge, Ms. Gandhi is committed to the constitution of the second SRC which was even included in the Common Minimum Programme of the UPA Government," he said. With his claims on the formation of Telangana State at any moment, Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao was only trying to maintain "suspense" on the issue and create confusion among people. "It is up to Mr. Rao to prove that his claims are not dubious," he said.
Dialogue process
When asked about the ongoing dialogue process between the Government and the People's War (PW), he wanted both sides not to stick to the clause pertaining to the carrying of weapons by naxalites. "The issue of whether or not the naxalites carry their weapons should come as part of the discussions. But, it should not become the focus of the dialogue process," he said.
