Cloudy sky forecast

NEW DELHI AUG. 10. The weatherman today forecast a generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers in the Capital on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Safdarjung recorded a maximum temperature of 32.1 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 25 degrees Celsius, while Palam recorded a maximum of 30.7 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 25 degrees Celsius. Safdarjung also experienced two mm of rain.

The maximum and minimum humidity recorded at Safdarjung was 95 and 74 per cent. At Palam, the maximum and minimum humidity recorded was 97 and 71 per cent respectively.

Woman hangs herself

NEW DELHI AUG. 10. A 22-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling in her house at Pushp Vihar in South Delhi today.

According to the police, Sangeeta, wife of Manoj Kumar, a resident of Sector-1 Pushp Vihar in South Delhi, was on the first floor of her house along with his mother-in-law, Munni Devi, this morning. Her husband, who was enrolled in a school for the physically challenged in Kalkaji, had gone to the school.

Munni Devi, the police said, came down for some work after which Sangeeta went inside the room and locked herself. However, by the time the door was opened, Sangeeta had hanged herself from the ceiling with the help of her chunni.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Sangeeta was married to Manoj only a month ago. The area sub-divisional magistrate has been informed about the incident and inquest proceedings have been initiated. Malviya Nagar police are further looking into the incident.

Three arrested

NEW DELHI AUG. 10. Three persons, who were allegedly planning to commit a dacoity, were arrested from Narela in North-West Delhi on Monday. A country-made pistol and a knife were recovered from their possession.

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West Delhi), Sanjay Singh, the police received a tip-off that some criminals had gathered in Narela Sector 6-7 to commit a crime. Subsequently, they laid a trap and arrested three of the suspects, Rakesh Kashyap, Rajesh and Man Pal Kashyap. During interrogation, the accused disclosed that they were members of a Jheemar gang. Two of their accomplices, identified by them as Ashok and Vikas, escaped under the cover of darkness.
