BCCI's prize for winning Videocon Cup
CHENNAI,
AUG. 11.
BCCI will present $25,000 to the winning team in the Videocon Cup tri-series cricket championship in Amsterdam, said S.K. Nair, secretary, BCCI, on Tuesday. The `Player of the Series' will receive $3,000.
Mr. Nair informed that Videocon has signed a three-year contract with BCCI as a sponsor of all international cricket to be played in India till 2006.
"Since the Indian team had a lay-off from mid-April, it was critical for them to acclimatise themselves to the European conditions and Videocon presented them the platform to do so by sponsoring the triangular series (involving India, Pakistan and Australia) in Holland where conditions are quite similar to England," said Mr. Nair.
